This project was created by MWDB to showcase a high-performance modern home in Urbana-Champaign designed with great attention to the site, materiality, detail, and healthfulness. It was built with the best construction practices and methods.

The program was conceived out of a need to adapt to the changing demands we put on the function of our homes today, such as working from home, accommodating long-term guests and aging in place.

The design is focused on creating spaces that respond to the patterns of the sun, prevailing winds and views, while balancing openness and privacy. The material palette is warm, crisp in detail and contiguous throughout the house to support a calm environment. The landscape architecture was developed in conjunction with the house to orchestrate an experience of connection between the two.
